Sleepless nights

hehe not quite, i'm just not ready to go to bed yet. I tried to but my mind was to active, I absolutely hate it when I fall asleep in the afternoon/evening from exhaustion.

I was talking to someone today after church and I was explaining what I got up to this week, it was quite interesting really because for once I could remember what happened! Its so weird when people ask you how your week's been and although you know you've done heaps of stuff you can't remember for the life of you what actually did happen so you end up saying something trite like, "it was good" or "it was ok" etc etc...

So yeah, it has been a very musical week I guess because I went to Claire's performance on Friday night at Surry Hill and then on Saturday went to Mel's 21st at Newtown to see Lano and Woodley perform live comedy/musical acts. Both performances were great, I'm so glad I went to both. Claire's performance was called 'Working' and it was basically telling the story of working people. The music side of the performance was great, and it was kinda intellectual too. Claire had a solo and she rocked! I wish I musical, anyway appreciating music is good too.

Lano and Woodley was a different kind of musical performance. Lots of swearing, cursing, vulgar humour, but plenty of cheer and solid guitar work made it pretty enjoyable. It was good to celebrate Mel's 21st, saw a lot of familiar faces there which was good.

So yeah, I was lazing around before thinking about the past and stuff like that. I was reminiscing about Kunming, about the good times there, particularly the snow and mahjong! Funny how so much time has passed since 2002/3 when I went there. Seems like an eternity ago! Things have changed so much, even in one year everything seems different! Change for the better or worse? Probably change of the better! Its just like in the book of Ecclesiastes about how there's time for everything.

Working a musical

Went to see Claire's performance at the Tom Mann theatre in Surry Hills tonight. It was heaps good.

I have all these things to say but not enough time. Elaborate later.

freak storms

It was really hot this morning when I woke up, and then suddenly whilst watching 'Fresh' at 11.40 am it started pouring like crazy. It was like one of those tropical downpours during the monsoon in Singapore, quick, brief and crazy. After it stopped raining the sun came out and it was fine again. I kid you not, steam was coming out of the drive way after the downpour!

I'm at uni again, waiting for my revision class to start at 2pm. Just got my research essay back, I was freaking out about it as I was certain that I missed a lot of issues. I've got it back now, thank God I didn't fail, managed to get through OK. Definitely have to work harder in the final though, but thank God that he helped me get through.

The last few days have been quite weird. I can take pride that I've mentally matured, at the beginning of the year I was a feeling a bit emotionally unstable and in indeed one of my goals was to have a greater control over my emotions and know the bible better. Its odd when I reflect back, because in a way those goals have been achieved. Anyway I hope I'm not sounding too boastful, I attribute the attainment of these goals to God.

Its the second last week of uni ever! Its been a long time, neither too long nor too short. At times I do feel that uni has been a waste of time, and this is compounded my the fact that I feel that I may be better suited to another profession and I have no plans to practise law in the immediate future.

But I'm encouraged by some pearls of wisdom I gained from my conversation with Leon, the hairdresser in Blacktown. Uni isn't just about getting good marks and getting good jobs after, although a huge part of going to uni is just that. I shouldn't feel as if uni is a waste of time and that I haven't achieved my potential because I've actually learned a lot from being here in the last five years. All those classes, assignments, exams, readings: they have taught me a huge range of skills which I now possess and can put them into practise in real life.

Insecurities

I've had a good week, and its not because things are going great in my life.

I'm on a post blue sky high atm. Can't help it though, it was such a great service!

But yeah I went to Octoberfest last night, it was my final uni party. I seriously felt so old there,
but I had fun nonetheless. Tried my first smirnoff ever on the suggestion of a friend, the first one tasted great, a bit like sprite or Malaysian 7 up, something of the type. The next drink I wanted to get was a pineapple and vodka, but they ran out unfortunately so my friend got me another one, I had a sip and it tasted foul. Didn't end up drinking it, so had to go 'cold turkey' into the RnB tent. LOL. anyway it was fun, met some law people there so was skanking it a little there.

Yeah so the rain got heavier and the party went on.

The pressure cooker that is life

Its 9 am. My teacher is calling out the roll and I'm pretending not to laugh because I'm being naughty and blogging when I'm supposed to pay attention to him.

Crap! He's starting to get to substantive material!

aah, its ok, he's trying to make jokes and be funny. I can blog for another 5 minutes or so. Latecomers are starting to pour in now.

Screw it, blog later hehe

Batman Forever

Luv Batman. If only I could just stay at home and watch Batman cartoons and movies.

Just finished browsing John Foong's blog site. http://johninmoz.blogspot.com/
Its a good read, its more interesting now with heaps of pics, just like Bianca's one except with less pictures of people and more of cakes and food hahaha, not surprising coming from John ;)

Its weird, he came back from Moz for two months, and he left pretty quickly to the States. He's a great guy, one of those people you can really look up to in church.

Yeah, so church was good today. Had a short lunch cos I had to go with mum to Double Bay to pick up my cousin from his hotel. Took him out to Bondi, unfortunately the weather was a bit overcast so didn't really have the 'Bondi' feel. But it was great to smell air and walk around, good to take mum out too.

After that came back to the city for a stroll around Chinatown. Chinatown feels like home to me, yeah, but anyway had 'Tao fu Fa' and 'Dou sha bing' at Zhu ma ma's. It was alright, not really a fan of chinese desserts.

I've started studying for finals already cos I'm so worried about them. I think I stuffed up a two midsessions so I need all the marks I can get. Seriously, I'm leaving it in God's hands :)

Time to destress!

its alma mater lol, my latin sucks

I don't get the bird spotting comment lol.

anyway lead growth group in Irina' s absence tonight. Twas unexpectedly good, at first I was a bit nervous just like last year, but in the end it was pretty encouraging just being around Dan and Brian. Good to get to know them better and the fellowship was good ;)

So, straight after coming home I'm in front of the comp again, trying to get friendster to work whilst pigging out on asian sausage buns. I'm on the junk food withdrawal phase so I'm having crazy cravings. Actually I'm not but anyway.

South park is so funny! Just watched the episode when the 'Native American' 3 feathers casino takes over SP and they hatch a plan to infect everyone with SARS. So funny!

Senator Barnaby Joyce

He's causing trouble again. Well, good on him lol.

Its 8.30ish and I'm in the computer labs again. I wanted to go for the student life prayer meeting but I couldnt' find anyone, after my frantic search of both upper and lower campuses. Oh well, I can go next week when I find out where those student life people are hiding hehe

No idea why my blog is being a target for anonymous comments and spammers. I don't really mind, I feel happy when I get a comment, even if its from random strangers advertising their furniture etc...

Just want to elaborate on the 'Jamboree' event on Thursday, where I helped lawsoc sell corn at $3.50 a piece down unsw main walkway. There was this band performing at 6pm, I couldn't see them clearly from the stall but I could hear them pretty well. The lead singer was a chick and she was pretty impressive! She sang like three songs: Fly away by FIR in Mando, the Tatu song (the Russia lesbian duo from a few years back) and some other song I can't remember. Although the band was a bit out of time I reckon her performance stood out. It was cool having live music at uni, and it was extra cool that the performances were done by unsw students!

So yeah, what else?! I went to Usyd Business/Economics postgrad course night yesterday after class at the Swishotel on Mkt Street. Kim gave me a lift from uni, he, Dave and Hendy were going off in the car on this Christian singer called 'Brooke Fraser' from New Zealand who's hot property apparently lol. Anyway her CD was on in the car and she was alright ;)

I've decided not to pursue any post grad business course at usyd. The talk was pretty interesting, the presenter guy was pretty impressive and it wasn't his talk that put me off studying there. But the cost of it, basically $25 K, is just too much and I'm not up for further study at this point. It was scary how the presenter mentioned there are people who do a double masters, I was sitting there thinking how overeducated some people become!

So tonight I'm attending another postgrad expo, this time at my alter mater, unsw straight after advanced legal research class today. I'm gonna be here the whole day, I'm definitely going to get bored or fall asleep or both! I've got my diet coke handy but I've already started drinking. Aargh, help me not O.D on caffeine hehe

Oh yeah, I got my comp fixed again! After playing around with the bios I successfully formatted, reinstalled the drivers and the wireless internet is working again. I was so stupid because I installed the wrong driver and I even thought that I had to replace my wireless network adapter. Have to be less 'blur' next time and be more aware of what I'm doing.

anyway, ttylz

confused, dazed, tired, itchy

Argh, the skin on my leg is itching cos its dry. But I don't want to put moisturiser on it cos then i can't type.

Week 11 at uni today, it was so weird after coming back from 2 week break. I was on the verge of sleeping in both my 2-hour lectures today. Its scary how dependent on diet coke I am to keep me awake in early morning lectures.

So after class, hopped on a bus to the city. Lunch at sushi train, btw on Tuesday all plates are $2.50 which is pretty good value! Didn't know they had served takoyaki balls and karaage chikin.. hmm.. i only ate 3 plates which was pretty shameful but i honestly didnt' feel very hungry at the time.

ok, so yeah after lunch took the bus back to uni cos I promised lawsoc I'd help them out with their 'international night' thingy. twas fun, I sold 'jagung' or corn on the cob the whole afternoon!

oh yeah, I will get round to writing people testies. Just not in the right frame of mind atm. too confused and dazed.

no testy for gaston

lol, hmm yeah, dunno?! argh, freaking out!

woke up late this morning, felt agitated and a bit grumpy cos I don't like to be late to church, its seriously disrespeckting God. anyway service was good, spoke a lot to me and its good to get deeper into the minor prophets.

Went lanning this afternoon after church. It was fun! hehe, played a total of 3 games. The first two was heaps good cos we won, the last was just plain embarassing. 4 on 2 and we still lost. Danny made like 41 kills. It was just plain bad!!!

so yeah now I'm chilling out. tmr uni resumes!

Suffering from lack of sleep, slept at like 3.30 am last night, couldn't get to sleep so I put Meteor Garden on again.

oh btw, everyone should watch Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children! Its so good, the CGI is amazing!

Saturday, October 08, 2005

need 2 sleep. been online 2 long. no more friendster. just finished writing testimonials for Irina and Jase. Need 2 sleep. Kim's 21st tmr, need to take train. sleep. zzz

lol have to rush off now so i can get home early!

aargh so confused!

lol, i thought i was a third complete of my FSR assignment, turns out I have so much more to do! Came to uni today and found a whole heap of articles on topic to digest. More work! At least I'm more into it now, I feel more motivation to write a good essay.

anyway boring work aside, the weather has cleared up and its perfect weather for the beach again!
will continue the post in 5 secs.

ok lets try posting text and pictures. hopefully using IE will make the process faster.

Wow it actually works using IE! So cool, anyway this is a group pic I took yesterday at dinner.

Nice to see so many smiling faces, happiness is what life is about, yes happiness and not billable hours, credit cards, mercedes and graduate employment.

My legs are sunburnt again!

I've had a good time last couple of days :) Its so cool to chill out and just destress!

Came back from Melbourne, got my life organised again. Yesterday went out to hang with former growth group members, twas a lot of fun! We didn't do much, just met up in the city, caught the bus to Peter's place, and then went out to get Thai food for dinner in Newtown. Thai food is so yummy! Wonder why I never appreciated it before, Thai tastes so good, so spicy and sweet. Its great! Yeah so I think we went to a restaurant called Thai 2, its on City road near Usyd.

After dinner went back to Peter's, removed his comp from his dorm room and put it in the common room. Everyone sat on couches and watched 'Bruce Almighty' on Peter's 17 inch CRT monitor lol. Seriously it was a lot of fun. Its good to hang with people out of the context in which you normally meet them.

Yeah so that was yesterday. I spent today in the sun!!! Woke up early to play tennis at uni. Twas such a beautiful day weatherwise, and I haven't played tennis in a while so it was particularly refreshing hehe. Went to Maroubra after that, just sat on the beach reflecting on stuff. I think I've developed a hobby of doing nothing whilst watching others have fun. The water was bloody freezing tho, I wanted to swim but the water was just too cold! Saw something really cool today. I saw these people riding surfing boards whilst being pushed by these sail things. This new activity looks really cool. Its like surfing but they don't have to catch waves, they get propelled by the sails which they hold.

Had a social growth group event tonight which was really enjoyable too! Had thaifood for dinner again, then icecream, then latin dancing in Darling Harbour. Loads of fun! Now I'm back home with sunburnt legs.
