Graduate jobs, what are those?
More worries, what are graduate jobs and how do you get them? What do you do after you graduate?
I haven't even thought that far, I've only had my mind on this year and how I have to get good marks etc.
Anyway, some advice would be useful for those who know what happens after you graduate ;)

Graduate jobs? Applied for them last year, got in with NAB. However, it required a move to Melbourne and I didn't perform too well either I think in the last interview so didn't get it.
Bear in mind that they assume that ppl who've finished their Master's/PhD's are ALSO graduates, so also lost a graduate role with to somebody with a Masters of IT.
Graduate roles are simply roles where you rotate around a company for a few months doing different jobs till they see where you best fit in. Like, with NAB, it was a software development job, so they said they'd rotate me within different projects in 6 month periods and see how I went in them. Then they'd settle you down into a job that you and they felt you were best suited for.
The application process can be gruelling. For NAB, i had to go through a 4 hour aptitude and personality test. Maths, english and 325 character-related questions. Then we had a group interview, where they'd see how everybody acts in a group, as well as how you deal with meetings and expressing your ideas(some study on farming in a non-existant state). Finally, they got the one-on-one where they ask all those lose-lose questions(ie. When was the last time you made a bad decision and what was its impact?). I'm sure that if i HADN'T worked a night shift the last three nights before, i'd have reacted quicker when they "casually informed me" that the job would require a relocation to another state.. an option i'd never considered and had never been informed of. I went on about having to ask parents which probably made me come off as dependant and not a strong enough candidate or some crap. Got my "letter of rejection" a few weeks later.
In short, there was nothing technical about the interview whatsoever. Never was I asked to demonstrate my IT skill or knowledge. I think that its the one time where your grades at uni actually matter. But good luck Keith..apply ASAP... graduate roles are already starting to close for next year.
