Character flaws
Accomplished quite a lot today. Woke up early to pick my cousin Ryan up from the airport. Had breakfast with him, accompanied him back to his lodging and hang around there for a while.
Came back home and then had to go out again. Went to do market research in Crows Nest. For those who are interested, contact Sensometrics and register your details with them. Sensometrics is a company that does product testing for its clients and if you meet their criteria you are invited to participate in their product testing sessions. You get paid as a participant of course.
So I tested two kinds of tic tacs this morning. Got paid $30 for 15 mins worth of work, wasn't too bad.
This afternoon spotted a flock of sulphur crested cockatoos just across the road, took some pics but I wasn't close enough to get good shots.
Returning to bluesky last night was a good experience. Lots happening at church with C.E and everything. It was good to see old friends and be around warm company again. What a contrast to being at uni, absolutely can't stand the packed lifts in the law building and the irritating lecturers.
I've changed my subjects yet again! I'm doing family law again, I found out I was allergic to trusts so I decided to make the change back. Couldn't understand the Trusts lecturer, he had a bit of an accent and I was really worried about the group work assessment for that course.
On the other hand I'm enjoying my other subjects. Maybe I'm a boring person but I actually enjoy learning about corporate finance and the regulation of financial markets. I'm doing 2 subjects which overlap in subject matter, which suits me fine hehe.
In hindsight I would have enjoyed a plain commerce or arts course more than Arts/Law but I guess it was God's plan for me. After 1st uni when I was applying for my transfer for law, I told God, if I don't get into law then it would be a sign for me to stick with Commerce/Arts. Well to cut a long story short I got into law and the rest is history.

old habits die hard
I'm at the law computer labs blogging again. Weird and slightly scary to be at uni again today. For one, I don't see as many people as before, where did they all go?
Was observing all the asian people hanging around on the library lawn. Interesting, thats all I have to say.
Bumped into some old friends in the library before, saw Jo momentarily as she was passing through.
I changed a subject too, no more family law for this guy!!! On opening up myunsw I noticed a place in financial services regulation and so I quickly swapped my place in family law for it. This will mean I'm doing 3 c0mmercially related subjects this semester, which is a first. I'm also doing
1. Trusts
2. Business Associations 2 which is about securities and corporate takeovers I think
So if anybody has any notes or anything to share pls oblige me!
don't know how I'll cope with this mix of subjects. I'm hoping the assessment is exam and research essay based, can't stand group projects and I dislike class presentations immensely!

Kah tiah kah bey see (*Hokkien for* "My legs hurt so much that I want to die")
Can't believe my legs hurt so much now! I did walk around a bit today but no way enough to justify me feeling this blistering pain :(
Anyway I'm overexaggerating slightly. I had a pretty fulfilling day, church in the morning and hanging out with blue sky people til evening, Ruth's welcolm back dinner at her church in Surry Hills, a snack at Kensington McDonalds and then went to airport to give a lift to a childhood friend of mind who is coming to Sydney to study one term at UTS.
I definitely feel happy to see everyone at church again today. It was also great to see Ruth again too, and talk about Korean dramas and fob pop stars lol. Now that she's back maybe I can organise mahjong again *wishful thinking*
Tomorrow morning I'll be back at sydney airport again, this time to pick up Kelvin. Mum's going to drop me at uni after picking Kelvin up, and then after class I gotta make my way to tuition.
Semester 2, 2005 officially starts tomorrow and it will be my last semester at uni foreva! Unless I fail of course.
Funny thing happened today, I met a friend unexpectedly at the coffee festival at the Rocks. Her name is Xi and she's a psych student. Lost contact after she left to England to study on exchange for one year. Can't believe she can still recognise me after all this time. She looks different too, her hair is longer and she looks younger for some reason.

Observations
Not sure what language I'm speaking anymore. Don't know why but I'm having difficulty adjusting to the Aussie lingo this time back, can't seem to speak neutrally, I seem to be overemphasising Aussie slang.
Anyway, Sydney seems very quiet and peaceful. Not quite used to the silence here. Its kinda relaxing in a way.

frantically blogging at sony store in klcc
lol, i'm doing it again, using the net for free in another sony store, except this time i'm in klcc (the shopping centre beneath the famous Petronas twin towers.
took the putra lrt from a station called kelana jaya to get here. the train is air conditioned, driver-less, high tech, and quite a smooth ride. beats cityrail anyday hehe.
its true, i have been putting on weight. its just non stop eating here. i bought a mens health magazine ystday which contained articles on the unhealthiness of eating at malaysian hawker centres. it didn't quite put me off food, but it was interesting how stray cats and dogs contribute to people getting gastro enteritis and food poisoning at these places. I had no idea that those stray mutts and muggies drink the water used to wish the dishes and cultlery used at these places hehe.

stupid me
Got my dates mixed up again, uni results will be out next Friday (15th July) via unimail and not today as I have stupidly thought. I've gone to the net cafe place near my grandfather's house 4 or 5 times since I've been here and it never occurred to me to check the dates online.
So moral of the story is check dates online if you are unsure.
still waiting for a spot in Environmental Law next semester. got my place in business Associations 2 which is good.

Saturday Ice Cafe
The title of this blog is actually a name of a place I visited today. Its like a normal Malaysian coffee shop and its two big attractions are, you guessed it, char kuay teow (fried 'Hor fun' noodles) and Iced desserts. Had the 'Saturday Iced Pat Poh' (xingqiliubazhenxue) which is just glorified ice kacang hehe
Anyway been doing but eat last few days. Not good at all.
Attended my grandparent's 60th Wedding anniversary on Saturday in a hotel here in Melaka. It was a pretty good occassion, the party was good and I wasn't forced to ruin the party by giving some awkward speech which I appreciate.
I had so much to whine about before, where have all my negative thoughts gone? This is definitely writer's block!

Kuay Teow Kia
So I'm back in Melaka now. Its hot, but not overbearingly hot. Been eating way too much, I definitely want to start skipping meals due to the overexpansion of my stomach!
Touched down in KLIA late Wednesday night, the flight was good and fast. Oh yeah, unexpectedly met Andrew Nip at Sydney airport, he's going back to HK cos of this special flight on Virgin which only cost $500 per person which is a bargain.
KL airport was impressive, clean, airconditioned. There's a starbucks upstairs now, didn't notice that before. Last time I came back was about 2 years ago.
Not much to do in Melaka but sleep. I'm missing my 'toys' back in Sydney: ps2, computer, net access at home, piano, TV!!! Anyway I should stop whining. Its good to be back, good to see family and experience a different culture and climate once in a while.
Btw DVD players are really cheap here, when you convert to AUD, you can get a Chinese or Malaysian manufactured one for about $40. Bargain. They play basically everything under the sun 2.Brilliant.
