Thailand

Came back from Thailand 2 days ago. Went with my extended family to Bangkok and Chiangmai, flew the budget airline Air Asia from KLIA to Bangkok International on the 23rd, spent Christmas Eve and day in Bangkok and then flew to the northern city of Chiangmai on boxing day. Thailand was excellent, good food, great shopping, easy transport. The only thing I dont' like is the smell of the Benzene fumes, most cars and "duk-duks" are powered by Benzene engines and the fumes are horrible smelling.

Thai people are really really friendly, and very helpful. People in Bangkok can generally speak English well. Went to this mega huge shopping centre that just opened called Siam Paragon which is just next to Siam train station.

The train system in Bkk is pretty fantastic 2, it connects to all the major markets, shopping places, hawker centres, KL shouldn't definitely follow their model. At the moment KL does have a modern train system, but its all separately operated and there aren't any stations at the major commercial hubs like Mid Valley, 1 Utama etc...

Have so many pics and stories to tell about my trip 2 Thailand. I'll post my pics later once I get back to Syd!

continuation of previous post

Ok I'll try my best to recollect so I can finish off my last post. So after A&W, we go to Jusco to try to find a nice cologne. Wandered around Jusco's fragrance section testing out the scents there, and then suddenly out of the blue Jason comes!!! He looks the same, very slim, even more than before and he's wearing a pink Fred Perry shirt. Coincidentally I'm wearing a blue Fred Perry shirt too, we look like brothers, one tall and slim; the other short and fat lol.

Ok, so yeah went BOWLING after that. Bowled pretty badly, but it was fun nonetheless, Jason's pretty good though, he was consistently above 100, i think he was the top scorer of the day with 127. Carina showed her stuff too. So I had to take them upstairs to play ULTIMATE HYPER BISHI BASHI!!!!!

Anyway I'm back in Melaka now, bored with nothing to do. I went bowling again today, this time with my cousin. Went for 5 games at 2 ringgit per game. Saw Narnia too, it was pretty good. I had absolutely no interest in watching it, was a bit put off by the trailer which made it look like a poor imitation of LoTR. Anyway the movie has rekindled my interest in the books again, have to find and read them once I get back.

Malaysian chocoalte sucks!!!

Recovering from eating bad chocolate...

LOL I've been doing it again, getting addicted to friendster and blindly adding people so i can compete with all the asian people.

anyway... I can understand my stupid addiction to friendster. Its a dating service, true and true, I partly use it to browse for all the good looking chix; partly because I want to network and partly because I want to count how many friends I have. Lol, anyway I think I just had to sadly confess all that online.

Ok back to the story of what happened today. Woke up late at 10 amwith sinus pain. Ate Nasi Lemak that my Godma Ah-cheng brought for me this morning. Drove Ah-Cheng Jie's Proton Wira (1.5L Malaysian car) from Taman Desa to 1 utama, which was the first time I've driven a long distancein K.L.

Once I'm at 1 utama (huge shopping mall in K.L); the first person I see coming down from the carpark is my one and only cousin Aaron who is skipping church to shop lol.

Then I go buy Clarinase for my sinus trouble. I meet Carina, not used to seeing Sydney people in Malaysia but its good to see her. Yu-yen comes 15 mins later. I satisfy my craving for junk food by going to A&W. Migosh, it tastes soo good! Moza burger combo with root beer and curly fries...hm.... food that reminds me of my childhood...

ok, we came back to A&W later to eat Waffles for dessert. So damn good, luv waffles.

continue my story nxt post

Tiring day

I'm at my aunt's place now, its nearly 10:30pm, I'm so tired,my headache is gone but my nose is still runny...argh...I wish I was in full health.

Had another long day. Woke up in the morning as you do, went to KL's Chinatown to follow mum buy fake Louis Vuitton bags. Ate Indian rice on a banana leaf, visited a friend's condominium, went back to my home suburb of Bangsar, spent 2 hours in a double storey upmarket shopping centre.

Had really really good mee rebus, beef satay and char kuay tiao for dinner at Seri Hartamas with my cousin and her husband. So tired!

anyway thats just some of things I did today. I yearn for the peace and quiet of Melaka now, I long to do nothing at grandpa's place, sleep on the cold cement floor at 2pm in the afternoon and drive my Ah-Kong's Manual drive Nissan Sentra at night! KL is a stressful place, and my relatives here get stressed easily too. Was a bit disappointing to see relos behave in a way that you believe that shouldn't.

Anyway I think I've come a long way since 5 years ago and I should be more courageous to express what I think and feel and not be inhibited by what other people think of what I do and say.

Looking forward to tmr's 'bluesky reunion' which I've brokered! I can get away with a sleep in tmr morning. zzz

Zhen de ai qing

what a day! Tiring yet fulfilling! I'm in Kuala Lumpur or K.L now, the capital city of Malaysia staying with my aunt. After eating Indian 'roti canai' this morning took a cab to the 'Curve' shopping centre, met my sister Ling and another childhood friend and sang k for 3 hours at Red Box. Really nice place, clean, non-smoky, good selection of songs. This place was good, seriously where else could you sing k for free (on the proviso you eat lunch there); sing the latest Jay Chou songs from November Chopin, Guy Sebastian's 'Angels brought me here' and Pussy Cat Doll's 'Dontcha wish your girlfriend' (with subtitles!). The following question was rhetorical but I imagine from what I hear that you could do all that at one of those uber trendy karaoke bars in Beijing.

K.L is a pretty happening place, its cosmopolitan, its metro, good food, huge shopping malls like the Curve and 1 utama and there's quite a lot you can do here. Went bowling at 1 utama today for only 9 malaysian ringgit for 2 games, had a pretty good day score wise but disappointing all the same. Scored 120 in my first round and around 117, so many wasted spares in my second game! 1utama has a pretty good video game arcade above the bowling alley 2. Played 3 player Konami's hyper bishi bashi Korean version which was heaps of fun.

So apart from the entertainment side of things it was equally as enjoyable to see old family friends again. Being here reminds me of my childhood, my roots and why I still have a desire to come back to live, whether or not on a temporary or permanent basis. I like both Sydney and Malaysia, miss the beaches, weather and outdoor life in Sydney, miss the family and culture here.

sleepy drowsy

Been observing the nice cars on the road here. Toyota Vios is nice;) so is Honda City and Civic, and my personal favourite, Nissan Sentra in hot black!!! Some of the local cars look good 2, Proton's Gen 2 is alright and the Perodua Kembara SUV and Kelisa would be my personal pick.

Some really nice Korean cars on the road here too, more than in Sydney. I seem to only see Excels on the road in Aus, but here you can see Kia Rio, Hyundai Getz, Elantra and Matrix.

I need a comp!!! Been doing Sudoku puzzles to pass the time. I was so proud when I completed my first one!

some thoughts from afar

I'm back in Malaysia! Its surprisingly not that hot and my legs havent' been ravaged by mosquitoes yet. Saw my grandparents today and they're well, thank God :) Melaka still seems the same, and it does feel good to be back. Imagine that I was here only a few months back in July. The time period since then has seemed pretty long for some reason.

so I'm at a internet cafe place now, near my grandparents place. I'm savouring the local LAN culture which seems to be thriving lol. It wasn't a big surprise when I saw what most people were playing, yes.. people are playing DOTA over here. It seems that around the world things are not that different after all. I mean, for one thing, the language people use when playing DOTA is the same when you translate it I think * my hokkien is not that good.

Uni results are out! How come getting results is always such a scary process! Anyway I got it over and done with, thank God again, I didn't fail any subjects. Results for one subject aren't out yet, the subject has an 'LE' status which means that the course convenor hasn't finalised the marks yet. Its so weird and ironic that the legal subject I did best in throughout the duration of my Arts/Law degree turns out to be Advanced Legal Research!!!
Of all things hehehehe.
